eMedia

  • This class is composed of 7th and 8th grade students.
  • There is an application process for this year long class.
  • Incoming 6th graders are notified of the application process during the registration period and visits to elementary schools by our counselors.
  • This is a journalism class with a focus on news broadcasting.
  • The class follows the CSMA (Colorado Student Media Association) standards.
  • This class writes, films, edits, and produces the school newscasts, maintains posts on the Twitter account, and edits the RiseVision display (the display when you enter the school).
  • Many awards have been won at both the State CSMA “Best in State” contest as well as DCSD’s film festival.
  • There is a direct track from CRMS to CVTV (Castle View High School’s broadcast class). If you wish to continue to CVTV, recommendations are given based on performance.

Exploring Computer Science

  • This class is composed of 7th and 8th grade students.
  • No prior knowledge is required and is a very inclusive class for students of all backgrounds.
  • We use curriculum that follows the CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Associations) standards for middle school students.
  • Students will learn HTML, JavaScript, programming basics, computational thinking. This is not a “coding class”, but rather a class where students learn to be creators using modern technology.
  • The course inspires students as they design their own websites, code games, stories and scenes, and explore physical computing devices including circuit boards and robots.
  • Students who are successful in this class can skip the Introduction to Computer Science class at Castle View High School.

Mulitmedia

  • Open to Seventh and Eighth grade students
  • All are welcome, no experience necessary
  • Students will learn:

  • Music composition software
  • Stages of video production
  • How to use video, audio, and lighting equipment
  • Visual and graphic effects
  • Animation, Psa, Silent Films, Short Films and more

Electronic Publishing

  • Students will produce the school’s yearbook as they learn methods of interviewing, journalistic writing, editing, graphic design, digital photography and advertising.
  • State and National recognized and award winning middle school journalism program
  • Students matriculate into Yearbook at Castle View

Digital Design

  • 7th/8th Grade
  • No prior knowledge needed
  • Introduction to the basics elements and principles of graphic design.
  • Students will learn how to communicate a visual concept to a designated audience
  • using various tools, techniques and concepts employed by graphic artists.
  • You will learn design and layout while completing projects in photo editing and digital illustrations.
