eMedia
This class is composed of 7th and 8th grade students.
There is an application process for this year long class.
Incoming 6th graders are notified of the application process during the registration period and visits to elementary schools by our counselors.
This is a journalism class with a focus on news broadcasting.
The class follows the CSMA (Colorado Student Media Association) standards.
This class writes, films, edits, and produces the school newscasts, maintains posts on the Twitter account, and edits the RiseVision display (the display when you enter the school).
Many awards have been won at both the State CSMA “Best in State” contest as well as DCSD’s film festival.
There is a direct track from CRMS to CVTV (Castle View High School’s broadcast class). If you wish to continue to CVTV, recommendations are given based on performance.
Exploring Computer Science
This class is composed of 7th and 8th grade students.
No prior knowledge is required and is a very inclusive class for students of all backgrounds.
We use curriculum that follows the CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Associations) standards for middle school students.
Students will learn HTML, JavaScript, programming basics, computational thinking. This is not a “coding class”, but rather a class where students learn to be creators using modern technology.
The course inspires students as they design their own websites, code games, stories and scenes, and explore physical computing devices including circuit boards and robots.
Students who are successful in this class can skip the Introduction to Computer Science class at Castle View High School.
