Friday, September 11, 2020

Today is September 11, 2020.  This is an important day in American history and the lives of so many of us.  Our flag flies at half staff to remember those that were lost as well as to thank all of those that serve to protect our country and community.  Your sacrifices and efforts for all of us are greatly appreciated.

Today is the last day to order items from our online school store.  Take a few minutes to check out the options we have for students and parents.

Free Breakfast and Lunch for Students

As many of you may have read in the news, the USDA made an announcement on Monday, August 31 to make ALL meals free to any student 18 years of age and under. The deadline will be December 31, 2020 or until funding runs out. Effective immediately, students at all schools serviced by Nutrition Services that operate the National School Lunch Program or the Special Milk Program will have access to healthy and FREE meals every day. This will be in place for eLearners as well as in-person learners and their siblings. Nutrition Services is ecstatic with the news and working quickly to be ready to handle the expected increase in volume for in person meals AND remote meal bags. No reimbursable meals will be charged to student accounts. Ala carte items will continue to be sold at all levels. Nutrition Services will also be hiring at all levels! Visit the DCSD NutritionServices Website for more information.

Looking for extra money or a way to be at school:  Become a Substitute Teacher!

DCSD is looking for substitute teachers throughout the district at all levels.  The days are flexible and maybe you know someone working remotely or attending college with flexible hours that would be interested in becoming a substitute teacher.  Check out the Licensed Substitute Website or the Colorado Department of Education Substitute Application page for more information.

Hybrid Student Attendance

Students will be checking in online on their remote learning days starting next week.  Teachers are reviewing with students how to complete this new process.

Parent / Teacher Conferences Update

Parent / Teacher conferences were originally scheduled for next week.  Due to the different start of the school year and the fact we have had a limited number of in person contact days, we will be moving conferences back until after Fall Break.  More details will be coming.
